India set to be a top 10 on-demand revenue market by 2017

According to the latest report by Digital TV Research, India is set to be a top 10 on-demand revenue market by 2017, with an estimated value of $175 million.

According to the On-demand TV Revenue Forecasts report, on-demand TV revenues from movies and TV programmes will fetch $6 billion in 2017 as compared to $3.9 billion in 2011. The report also states that Italy will be second placed by 2017 while China will be third with a revenue of $550 million.

The On-demand TV Revenue Forecasts for the US in 2017 stands at $1.8 billion. The report adds that the US and Western Europe will still count for two-thirds of the global on-demand TV revenues in 2017. On-demand TV revenues will increase by 145% in the Asia Pacific region to reach $1.38 billion in 2017.
