Google Inc has launched its own branded tablet, the Nexus 7. The lauch is seen as the company’s attempt at capturing a share of the growing tablet market.

The Nexus 7 is priced at US $199 and runs on the Android operating system.  It will be competing against Apple Inc's iPad and the recently launched Windows 8-based Microsoft Surface.

The new tablet includes a camera, a film-friendly 1280 HD screen, and a fast Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. It also runs the video-optimised Jellybean version of Android, which the company claims is faster and offers similar voice search services like Apple's Siri.
